The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 11-year-old Avery Anderson of Wrenshall. The crash happened just after 5:00 p.m. on Friday on Broadway Street in Wrenshall.
Authorities say Anderson was riding her bicycle when she was struck by a truck driven by a 49-year-old man from Somerville, South Carolina. Deputies reported no signs of impairment, and the driver was cooperative during the investigation.
Emergency crews transported Anderson by Lifelink to the Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. Despite efforts to save her, officials confirmed she has died from her injuries.
The sheriff’s office has not indicated whether charges will be filed. The crash remains under investigation. Officials described the area as a local roadway where bicycle and vehicle traffic can intersect.
This incident underscores the importance of road safety for both drivers and bicyclists. Minnesota law requires drivers to exercise due care when sharing the road with bicycles. For more on bicycle safety, see the Minnesota Department of Transportation Bicycle Program.
I’m Chris Harper reporting for TRF News.

Traffic moves way to fast in a 30mph posted area. Sheriff office is not present when speeders go through town. Broadway Street is like a race track, with no speed enforcement. Sheriff deputies refuse to ticket truckers who speed, because that would endanger the truckers ability to keep his job.
Maybe now the sheriffs dept will opatrol; and apprehend speeders instead of warning them. We don’t want another accident foe any reason.
