Canadian Wildfire Smoke Prompts Air Quality Alert for Northwest Minnesota

MINNESOTA (trfnews.i234.me) – This weekend, Canadian wildfire smoke is expected to blanket Northwest Minnesota, prompting an air quality alert from 3:00 p.m. today until 6:00 p.m. Sunday. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency warns that pollution levels could reach the red category, signifying air quality that is unhealthy for everyone. The smoke is anticipated to cross the border by 3:00 p.m. and reach the Fargo-Moorhead area by around 6:00 p.m. Northerly winds are expected to persist for several days, pushing more smoke into Northern Minnesota. While smoke levels may decrease to the orange category, which is unhealthy for sensitive groups, by Saturday, officials may still need to expand the alert area.
