Burleigh County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – Authorities say a motorcycle pursuit ended in a rollover crash early Sunday.
It happened at about 12:25 a.m. on August 31, 2025. The location was State Street near North 12th Street in Bismarck.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a deputy tried to stop a 2009 Harley-Davidson. The motorcycle had no visible license plate.
Investigators say the rider fled south on State Street at high speed. The motorcycle then struck a concrete curb that divides traffic lanes.
The impact ejected the rider. The motorcycle skidded into the northbound lanes and came to rest on Divide Avenue.
Officials say the rider was a 28-year-old Bismarck man. He was not wearing a helmet.
He suffered serious injuries. Metro Ambulance took him to CHI St. Alexius in Bismarck.
The Burleigh County Sheriff’s Office was not involved in the crash itself. Deputies will review any criminal charges tied to the attempted stop.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol is leading the crash investigation. Road and weather conditions were listed as good.
Other responding agencies included Bismarck Police and Bismarck Fire. Crews secured the scene and managed traffic in the area.
Authorities did not release the rider’s name. Charges remain under investigation.
Median crossovers and center curbs can be hazardous at speed. Sudden impacts can cause a rider to lose control.
State safety officials remind riders to wear DOT-approved helmets. Helmets can reduce head injuries in crashes.
For motorcycle safety tips, see the North Dakota Department of Transportation. For enforcement updates, visit the North Dakota Highway Patrol. National helmet guidance is available from NHTSA.
Anyone who witnessed the pursuit or crash is asked to contact authorities. Dashcam footage may assist investigators.
This is a developing story. We will add verified updates as they are released by officials.
