MOORETON, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) – An investigation is underway following a burglary at the Antelope Creek Bar and Grill in Mooreton early Wednesday morning.
According to owner Dan Beyer, the establishment was secured and locked at approximately 12:30 a.m. A staff member later discovered evidence of a break-in and alerted him. Surveillance footage revealed the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m.
The burglars accessed the building by forcing open the liquor room door and disabling most security cameras, although one camera remained functional and captured clear footage of the event. The individuals spent about 30 to 35 minutes inside, during which they used a cutting tool to open the ATM, remove the cash, and exit the premises.
Beyer declined to disclose the amount stolen but described it as significant. The break-in caused damage to the ATM, the liquor room door, and the phone lines. Additionally, signs were removed from the walls and used to cover windows, presumably to prevent detection.
The suspects are described as one taller individual and another approximately 5 feet 3 or 4 inches tall, based on their height relative to doorframes. Their identities remain unknown, and Beyer has urged local businesses to remain vigilant. Efforts to identify potential suspects through surveillance footage have so far been unsuccessful.
The bar and grill opened an hour later than usual on Wednesday after staff addressed the damage. Phone lines were restored promptly with assistance from Red River Communications.
No fundraising efforts are currently planned to address the damage or losses. Beyer, who has owned the establishment for two and a half years, emphasized that incidents like this are rare in the area.
