North Saint Paul, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — Kavon Allen Strong, 18, of Maplewood, is facing felony assault charges after allegedly punching his girlfriend in the face inside North High School on May 21.
Police say the attack occurred during an argument in a school stairwell. The punch left the 18-year-old victim with a broken jaw in two places and required emergency surgery in Minneapolis. A tooth was also removed.
Surveillance footage reportedly shows Strong striking the girl in the left cheek, causing her to hit a wall and collapse momentarily. He then fled the scene.
Despite sending flowers and his mother visiting the hospital, Strong later became the subject of an arrest warrant. He eventually appeared in court and was released without bail, with no-contact restrictions placed.
Strong is charged with:

First-degree assault – great bodily harm

Third-degree assault – substantial bodily harm
He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of the top charge.
