Wilton, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Multiple wildfires have erupted near Wilton, Minnesota, just west of Bemidji, on Friday, May 9, 2025. The fires, fueled by dry and windy conditions, have prompted the deployment of aerial firefighting units, including aircraft from Dauntless Air, to assist in containment efforts.
Reports indicate that one grass fire ignited south of Bemidji along Highway 71 near the Hubbard County line, while another blaze has been reported near Bagley. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has issued a Fire Weather Watch for the region, warning of near-critical fire weather conditions due to low humidity and strong winds.
Dauntless Air, a Minnesota-based aerial firefighting company, has dispatched its fleet of Fire Boss aircraft to assist in battling the wildfires. These amphibious planes are capable of scooping water from nearby lakes and rivers, allowing for rapid response to emerging fires.
The Minnesota DNR urges residents to exercise extreme caution during this period of elevated fire risk. Activities such as campfires, debris burning, and operating machinery that can produce sparks should be avoided. If you see a wildfire, do not attempt to fight it yourself; call 911 immediately from a safe location.
