WINGER, MN (trfnews.i234.me) Multiple law enforcement agencies are searching for a Polk County inmate who escaped with a vehicle in Crookston Wednesday afternoon and is now believed to be on foot in a bean field near Winger, Minnesota.
Neil Berg here south of winger Minnesota where we have a major search going on winger is about 55 miles east southeast of Grand Forks North Dakota you can see all kinds of law enforcement vehicles here state troopers so on and so forth to set this up this all started earlier this afternoon a prisoner was being transported to the Polk County Jail because of a badge complaining of a bad shoulder and at Riverview Hospital in Crookston the the he apparently shoved the deputy out of the way got behind the wheel and the chase was on that chase went down highway 2 from Crookston over to Erskine about 30 miles east and then 10 miles south down here we’re told that the vehicle the chef’s deputy transport vehicle hit the ditch down here according to the scanner traffic and it did not have any weapons in it so it’s not believed the escaped prisoner has any weapons on him I’m gonna get behind the camera here and show you around a little bit okay you can see all kinds of police vehicles here listen to the scanner traffic now this is the field they’re searching this big beam beam field we see a dog we now have a tracking dogs here and two different drones and also a helicopter I believe from customs was being brought in it’s very thick thick bean field so if he lay down out there’d be hard to find again this is about one mile south of winger Minnesota so 55 miles east southeast of Grand Forks I also see a dog tracking dog from Thief River police brought in and again as I said two drones are up in the air it’s probably hard to see but this field is looks like a section line down there so a mile down way in the other side we could see law enforcement vehicles and law enforcement is out in the field walking right now he’ll try to zoom in a little bit it’s hard to see that he’s about a quarter-mile out there you’ll see somebody walking through the field perimeters set up all around the field again search for an escaped prisoner out of Polk County here in winger Minnesota south of winger about a mile we’ll be on the scene and keep you updated with the latest on all this in Polk County I’m Neil Berg reporting for I knew a TV
