BEMIDJI, MN (trfnews.i234.me) An e-cigarette is being blamed as the cause of a fire in downtown Bemidji, Minnesota on March 18th.
we have an update now to the fire in downtown bemidji on uh march 18th this in from bemidji fire chief justin sherwood on march 18th at uh 7 27 p.m bemidji fire responded to a report of a fire above a business located at 1317 beltrami avenue northwest in downtown bemidji upon arrival of firefighters from smoke a showing from a second story window firefighters made entry and found heavy smoke on the second floor firefighters located the fire inside an apartment and quickly extinguished the flames firefighters were on scene for approximately six hours with 27 firefighters and 10 pieces of equipment the apartments and its contents sustained extensive damage adjacent apartments and businesses sustained smoke and water damage no injuries reported and re-fire remains under investigation but appears to be accidental in nature investigation conducted by the bemidji fire department and state fire marshal’s office has determined the cause of the fire is related to an e-cigarette according to the fda the exact causes of vape fires or explosions are not yet clear but some evidence suggests that battery related issues may be the cause now here are some tips regarding using those vape devices consider using devices with safety features keep loose batteries in a case to prevent contact with metal objects never charge your vape device with a phone or tablet charger don’t charge your vape device overnight replace the batteries if they get damaged or wet i’m Neil Berg reporting for trfnews.i234.me
