FARGO, ND (trfnews.i234.me) — A Brainerd, Minnesota man is facing a felony charge after an early morning fight in downtown Fargo led to an alleged assault on a police officer.

According to court documents, police were called to the area in front of the Old Broadway in downtown Fargo around 2:00 a.m. Saturday for a report of an active fight. When officers arrived, they encountered 29-year-old Ryan Pacheco, who allegedly ran from the scene.

Officers caught up with Pacheco a short time later. After being taken to the ground and placed in handcuffs, he was medically cleared by emergency personnel. However, court documents say that once cleared, Pacheco allegedly kicked an officer while still in custody.

He was arrested and transported to jail, where he now faces one felony count of simple assault on a peace officer and one misdemeanor count of refusal to halt. Authorities have not released additional details regarding the fight that led to his arrest.

The Fargo Police Department continues to investigate the incident. Additional information may be released as the case moves forward in Cass County District Court.
