Brainerd, Crow Wing County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Brainerd man faces new charges.
The case involves a BB pistol and plates tied to another vehicle.
What the police reported
Michael Kent Eaton, 68, of Brainerd, is charged in Crow Wing County court.
The complaint says the incident happened on February 6, 2026.
The time was about 1:09 a.m.
Police saw a Chevrolet Blazer parked on the 1200 block of Laurel Street.
The vehicle looked parked for about 48 hours, based on the snow.
The complaint says a plate check linked the plates to a Jeep.
The Blazer was not that Jeep.
Police also learned Eaton had an active warrant, the complaint says.
Officers called for a tow and did an inventory search, the complaint says.
Police reported finding a CO2 pistol in the glove box.
Police also reported finding an open alcohol container.
Police later contacted Eaton at a nearby home, according to the complaint.
The complaint says Eaton admitted he drove the Blazer to the location.
It also says he had no valid driver’s license or insurance.

Test result and charges
Eaton was arrested on the warrant and taken to the Crow Wing County Jail.
The complaint says he gave a urine sample under a search warrant.
A lab report later listed an ethyl alcohol concentration of 0.265.
Prosecutors filed three charges, according to court filings.
They include carrying a BB gun in a public place, a gross misdemeanor.
They also include intent to escape tax on vehicle registration, a gross misdemeanor.
They also include displaying another person’s plates, a misdemeanor.
Alleged offense date: February 6, 2026.
Filing date: February 9, 2026.
Eaton told police the BB pistol was his, the complaint says.
He said he forgot it in the vehicle after shooting in the woods.
The complaint identifies the pistol as a Crosman 1911BB.
Separate case mentioned in filings
Court filings also reference Jeremy Jay Matter in a separate complaint.
That filing describes a reported domestic dispute.
It says Matter first denied any assault.
It later says he admitted he “tapped” his girlfriend’s face.
Deputies spoke with the woman listed as Victim 1, the filing says.
She said they argued after waking up in the bedroom.
She said the issue was an open window.
Alleged offense date: December 27, 2025.
Filing date: February 2, 2026.
