Bottineau County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – Authorities have released the names of those involved in a deadly two-vehicle crash northeast of Maxbass on Tuesday morning. A 43-year-old Antler man has died, and another driver was uninjured.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports the crash happened at 11:30 a.m. on September 9 at the uncontrolled intersection of 93rd Street NW and 18th Avenue NW. Investigators say a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Randy Fyllesvold, 43, of Antler, was traveling southbound on 18th Avenue at a high rate of speed. At the same time, a 2015 Case IH 4440 sprayer driven by Johannes Brits, 43, of Kenmare, was eastbound on 93rd Street NW.

The vehicles collided in the intersection, with the Silverado striking the left front wheel of the sprayer. Emergency responders from the Bottineau County Sheriff’s Office, Maxbass Fire and Rescue, and Westhope Ambulance Service were called to the scene. Fyllesvold, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Trinity Health Hospital, where he later died of his injuries. Brits, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.

Road conditions were reported as dry, and weather conditions were clear at the time of the crash. Authorities note that uncontrolled rural intersections like this one can be especially dangerous when speed is a factor.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal collision. Additional details may be released as the case develops.
