Bottineau County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – A deadly two-vehicle crash in rural Bottineau County has claimed the life of a 43-year-old man from Antler. Authorities say the crash happened late Tuesday morning at a rural intersection northeast of Maxbass.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at 11:30 a.m. on September 9 at the intersection of 93rd Street NW and 18th Avenue NW. Investigators say a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed on 18th Avenue NW. At the same time, a 2015 Case IH 4440 sprayer was moving eastbound on 93rd Street NW.

The two vehicles collided in the uncontrolled intersection, with the Silverado striking the front left side of the sprayer’s wheel. The impact caused severe damage to the pickup. Emergency crews from the Bottineau County Sheriff’s Office, Maxbass Fire and Rescue, and Westhope Ambulance Service responded to the scene. The Silverado’s driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Trinity Health Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

The sprayer’s driver, a 43-year-old man from Kenmare, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the crash. Road conditions were reported as dry, and weather conditions were clear at the time of the collision.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is leading the investigation. The agency reminds drivers that rural intersections without traffic control can be particularly hazardous, and speeding can significantly increase the risk of fatal outcomes.
