Blue Earth County: Two-Vehicle Crash in Mankato

BLUE EARTH COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — A two-vehicle crash in Mankato sent one woman to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash happened at 12:59 p.m. on October 8 along northbound Highway 22 at Bassett Drive in Mankato, Blue Earth County. A 2015 Ford Edge and a 2013 Chevy Equinox were both traveling north when they collided.

The driver of the Ford Edge, 65-year-old Lisa Mary Larson of Delavan, was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato with non-life-threatening injuries. Her passenger, 87-year-old Mary Margaret Oachs of Delavan, was not injured.

The driver of the Chevy Equinox, 64-year-old Herbert Miles Patterson of Lake Crystal, was not injured in the crash. All involved were wearing seat belts at the time, and no airbags deployed. The road was dry, and alcohol was not a factor.

The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office, Mankato Police Department, Mankato Fire Department, and Mayo Ambulance assisted at the scene. Traffic was briefly slowed while crews cleared the vehicles and debris.

The Minnesota State Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the collision. Authorities are reminding drivers to stay alert and maintain safe following distances, especially on busy highways like Highway 22.
