Mankato, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) – A garage shootout rocked a Mankato neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon, July 8, prompting multiple 911 calls near Hoffman Road and Victory Drive.
According to police, two masked men approached a home and opened fire on the garage. The homeowner returned fire in self-defense. Though no one was injured, multiple homes and vehicles were hit, and shell casings from different guns were scattered across the scene.
Thanks to a witness who spotted a suspicious vehicle fleeing with a temporary license plate, law enforcement quickly located Mahamedamin Kader Abdillahi and Ahmed Mohamed Ali, both 18 years old and from Mankato. Abdillahi was found in the vehicle with a loaded .40 caliber pistol, while Ali was caught nearby.
Both are now charged in Blue Earth County District Court with:
-
Aiding and abetting second-degree attempted murder
-
Dangerous weapons violations
Investigators believe this was part of a long-running feud involving the homeowner’s older brother, linked to past violent incidents.
