The North Dakota State University men’s cross country team will compete at the Summit League Championships this Saturday, Nov. 2, in Vermillion, S.D.
The University of South Dakota will host the meet at The Bluffs Golf Course. The women’s six-kilometer race starts at 11 a.m., with the men’s 8k to follow at noon.
NDSU is in search of its first-ever Summit League team title in men’s cross country. The Bison have claimed league runner-up honors in six of the last seven years, including last season when NDSU tied South Dakota State for first place with 46 points, but dropped the tiebreaker.
Last year was the highest conference meet finish for Bison men’s cross country in 41 years – since NDSU won the North Central Conference title in 1982. NDSU put six finishers in the top 14 overall, marking the best conference meet performance in its Summit League history – both in terms of total team score and number of all-league (top 14) finishers.
Individually, Greg Liebl’s second-place finish in 2007 remains the best finish by a Bison at the Summit League meet.
The Bison men will enter the conference meet at an all-time high of No. 6 in the USTFCCCA Regional Rankings, coming off a team title at the Bradley Pink Classic on Oct. 18.
