Building Boom in Bismarck-Mandan Thrives Despite High Interest Rates

BISMARCK, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – Despite rising interest rates and a median listing price of around $360,000 for a single-family home, Bismarck and Mandan, North Dakota, are experiencing a significant building boom. The area is expanding in all directions, except to the west, where the Missouri River acts as a natural barrier. Andrew Meldal, a home builder and recent president of the Bismarck-Mandan Home Builders Association, noted that demand for new homes remains strong despite financial pressures.

Meldal observed that larger homes are still in demand as families grow, but there’s also a notable trend toward more affordable housing options like twin homes, which are becoming increasingly popular among first-time buyers and those seeking cost-effective alternatives. Builders are responding to these demands by constructing more homes without basements and focusing on twin homes to cater to budget-conscious buyers. Meldal remains optimistic about the future, predicting that even as interest rates stabilize, the building activity in Bismarck and Mandan will continue to flourish.
