BISMARCK, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – A 24-year-old Bismarck man, Isiah Simms, has been arrested on allegations of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl on the grounds of the North Dakota State Capitol. According to a police release issued on Friday, August 23, Simms is currently held at the Burleigh Morton Detention Center, facing three counts of gross sexual imposition.

Police responded early Thursday morning at 5:50 a.m. after receiving a report of a missing child. A relative discovered through Snapchat that the girl had been sexually assaulted at the Capitol. Officers located the girl walking around the Capitol grounds with Simms, where the assault reportedly occurred, though not inside the Capitol building.

Bismarck Police Lt. Luke Gardiner confirmed that Simms knew the child, but the duration of their relationship remains unclear. The police are withholding specific details to ensure a successful prosecution, with charges yet to be filed in Burleigh County District Court.
