Bismarck ( trfnews.i234.me ) – A crash involving three vehicles shut down westbound lanes of Interstate 94 near the Grant Marsh Bridge in Bismarck on Wednesday morning.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 10:56 a.m. on October 1. A 2018 Hyundai Sonata traveling westbound in the left lane slowed for a John Deere 9500 combine harvester, which was also westbound. A 1989 Mack truck approached from behind in the left lane and was unable to slow in time, striking the Hyundai. The impact pushed the car into the combine, forcing the farm vehicle into the north concrete bridge barrier.

Despite the severity of the crash, no injuries were reported. Emergency responders confirmed all drivers involved were safe. However, the incident caused significant traffic disruption.

Westbound lanes of I-94 were closed for approximately two hours while crews cleared the scene. Agencies responding included the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Burleigh County Sheriff’s Department, Bismarck Police and Fire Departments, ND Game and Fish, Metro Ambulance, North Dakota Department of Transportation, and Red Top Towing.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol. Authorities remind drivers to remain alert and maintain safe following distances, especially when traveling near slow-moving farm equipment on highways. More details on traffic safety can be found through the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
