BEMIDJI, MN – If you’re a Bemidji resident missing mail since last fall, police may have just found the reason. Felicia Dawn Lussier of Bemidji has been charged with 10 felony counts of mail theft, according to court documents.
The investigation began in October 2023, when a reported stolen package contained an Apple AirTag tracking device. Using the tracker and surveillance footage, authorities were able to link the stolen mail to Lussier.
During questioning, Lussier admitted her involvement, stating, “I effed up, shouldn’t have done this.”
In total, mail belonging to approximately 40 different people was recovered from Lussier’s possession.
Each of the 10 felony mail theft charges carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison, meaning she could face significant legal consequences if convicted.
This case highlights the effectiveness of technology in tracking stolen goods and law enforcement’s commitment to protecting residents from mail theft.
