What the police say happened at Walmart
According to the complaint, officers responded to Walmart in Bemidji around 9:30 p.m.
An asset protection employee reported a suspected theft.
Police reviewed surveillance video and receipt records, the complaint states.
The video allegedly showed a woman repeatedly scanning an item for $0.42.
The complaint says she acted like she was scanning the real items.
Court records say she paid about $70 for a cart of items.
After she left the checkout, the staff checked the cart, the complaint states.
The complaint says the cart contained $1,427.10 in merchandise.
Police later confronted Olson, the complaint states.
Court records say she provided the barcode she used for the $0.42 scans.
Warrant noted in court records
The complaint also says Olson had an active felony warrant.
The warrant was listed in Mahnomen County case 44-CR-22-306.
The complaint lists multiple warrant dates in that case.
Those dates include June 6, 2022, and Nov. 21, 2023.
It also lists May 28, 2024, and March 17, 2025.
