Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bemidji-area woman is facing a new felony charge in Beltrami County. Court records say Waaban Michelle Jones is accused of failing to meet predatory offender registration rules.

What the Complaint Says

The complaint says Jones was required to register and complete weekly check-ins while listed as homeless in Bemidji. Authorities alleged she did not complete those check-ins after being in custody in August 2025.

Investigators also stated that Jones had not been keeping scheduled supervision meetings. The complaint says her whereabouts were unknown for a period of time. It also states that an arrest warrant had been issued before her arrest in February.

Arrest in Beltrami County

According to the complaint, family members called for medical help on Feb. 25, 2026, at a home on Archery Road SW. The filing says Jones was revived after an overdose report. It says she then left the scene.

Deputies later arrested Jones on the outstanding warrant as she walked away from the residence. She was taken to the Beltrami County Law Enforcement Center after a medical check, according to the complaint.

The charge is a felony. The complaint lists a possible sentence of two to five years in prison, a fine of up to $10,000, or both. A criminal charge is only an accusation. Jones is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Prior Court History Listed

The complaint also lists prior convictions, including earlier registration violations and drug-related cases. Those past cases are part of the court filing. They are not proof of the new allegation.
