Bemidji: Woman Charged After Fentanyl Traffic Stop

Bemidji, Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me). A Bemidji woman faces drug and DWI charges after a February 2, 2026, traffic stop.

Kristan Jean Raymond, 46, is charged with felony fifth-degree drug possession. She is also charged with a gross misdemeanor DWI test refusal.

What police allege

According to the complaint, officers watched a vehicle leave an area tied to drug activity. Police said the vehicle then made travel moves they found suspicious.

Police stopped the vehicle at about 2:31 p.m. They said the driver failed to signal within 100 feet of a turn.

The stop happened near Roosevelt Road SE and Lambert Avenue SE in Bemidji. The vehicle pulled into a home on the 700 block of Scott Avenue SE.

Signs of impairment

Police identified the driver as Raymond. Officers said she had glassy eyes and very small pupils.

The complaint also notes “heat bumps” on the back of her tongue. Police said this can be linked to drug use.

Raymond was asked to do field sobriety tests. Police said she showed clues of impairment on several tests.

During a timing test, she said 30 seconds had passed after about 57 seconds. Police said she stepped off a line during a walking test.

Police also said she swayed and hopped during a one-leg balance test. She was arrested for DWI.

Suspected fentanyl and oxycodone found

After the arrest, officers searched the vehicle, the complaint says. Police reported finding a loose oxycodone pill.

They also reported finding a backpack with Raymond’s financial card. Inside, police said they found about 0.71 grams of suspected fentanyl.

Raymond reportedly denied knowing about the substances. The suspected drugs were sent for testing, police said.

Test refusal alleged

Investigators sought a warrant for a blood or urine sample. Judge Annie Claesson-Huseby signed the warrant, the complaint states.

Police said Raymond refused testing multiple times, even after the warrant. In Minnesota, test refusal can bring a separate DWI charge.

More information is available at Minn. Stat. 169A.20. Drug possession details are listed at Minn. Stat. 152.025.

Court and bail

Raymond was booked into the Beltrami County Jail, according to the complaint. The case was filed in court on February 4, 2026.

At her first appearance, Judge Matti R. Adam set bail at $12,000 without conditions. Bail was set at $0 with release conditions.

Court records can be searched through the Minnesota Judicial Branch website.
