Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Red Lake woman has been charged in connection with a shoplifting incident at Walmart in Bemidji.
According to a criminal complaint, Joelle Lee Beaulieu, born December 25, 1990, was stopped by police after Walmart Asset Protection observed suspicious activity. Beaulieu allegedly concealed unpaid merchandise beneath scanned items in a cart at self-checkout, then left the store without paying for everything.
Police say she admitted to the theft on the scene. The total value of the stolen merchandise was $554.63, which led to a gross misdemeanor theft charge under Minnesota Statute 609.52.2(a)(1).
Beaulieu now faces up to 364 days in jail and a $3,000 fine if convicted.
