Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) — Prosecutors have filed a gross misdemeanor charge in Beltrami County District Court after a reported theft and trespass incident at Walmart in Bemidji, according to court records in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District.

The complaint names Kyle Andrew Leahy, born Oct. 31, 1978, of Baudette, Minnesota, as the defendant.

Charge Filed

Leahy is charged with a gross misdemeanor count of fourth-degree burglary, court records say.

The complaint alleges he entered a building open to the public with the intent to steal, after being told within the past year not to return.

What Court Records Say Happened

Court records say police responded at about 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 18, 2025, to the Walmart in Bemidji.

The call was for a possible theft or trespass incident, according to the complaint.

Records say Leahy was found in a loss prevention office when officers arrived.

The complaint states Walmart staff provided a trespass notice that was issued to Leahy on Nov. 12, 2025.

Court records say store staff showed police clothing items valued at under $500 that were allegedly concealed.

The filing also says Leahy left the store wearing a pair of unpaid boots.

Admissions Alleged

According to the complaint, Leahy admitted he knew about the trespass notice.

The complaint also says he admitted to the theft.

Court records note Leahy also has a separate misdemeanor theft case listed in another file.
