Bemidji, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — A brutal attack at Bemidji City Park has led to felony charges against a local man after multiple 911 calls reported a violent assault.

Derek Thomas Fairbanks-Roy of Bemidji is now charged with felony simple robbery and felony domestic assault following a disturbing incident on March 30th. According to the statement of probable cause, Bemidji police responded to a report of a male attacking a female at the park.

Witnesses and the female victim told officers that Roy had taken money from her—his partner—reportedly to buy alcohol. When she confronted him about taking all of her money, the situation escalated into violence.

The victim reported that Roy punched her in the face multiple times with a closed fist, then as she fell to the ground, he kicked and stomped on her head. She told officers she was terrified and feared Roy might kill her.

The woman sustained injuries to her hip, jaw, and the top of her head, and was transported to the hospital by ambulance, suffering from pain and nausea.

Derek Thomas Fairbanks-Roy now faces serious charges as this horrifying case moves forward in court.
