Bemidji Police Search For Suspect In Overnight Vandalism Spree

BEMIDJI, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me— Police in Bemidji are searching for a suspect after a rash of vehicle and property vandalism early Wednesday morning, October 22. According to Bemidji Police Chief Mike Masten, numerous vehicles and buildings in the west-central portion of Bemidji were damaged overnight.

Authorities say many vehicles suffered broken windows, slashed tires, scratched paint, graffiti, and even oily fluid poured over them. The area affected includes neighborhoods between Third Street Northwest and 15th Street Northwest, and between Minnesota Avenue and Mississippi Avenue.

The suspect is described as wearing black pants and a black hooded jacket. Police believe the vandalism occurred between 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, and 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 22.

Chief Masten urged residents in the affected neighborhoods to check their home or business security cameras for any suspicious activity during that time. Any footage or tips should be forwarded to the Bemidji Police Department as soon as possible.

“We’re asking everyone in the area to review their camera systems and report anything unusual,” Chief Masten said. No injuries have been reported, but the extent of the property damage is believed to be significant.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Bemidji Police Department at 218-333-9111 or visit their official website.
