SAWYER COUNTY, WI (trfnews.i234.me) – A murder charge has been filed today in Sawyer County, Wisconsin, against Manly McDermott, a native of Bemidji, Minnesota, for the March 2021 shooting death of Cary Elkin. Both McDermott and Elkin are originally from Bemidji.
McDermott was named a suspect over two years ago after Elkin was found dead from a gunshot wound to the back in her Sawyer County home. He has been serving a sentence in Minnesota on firearms charges and was scheduled for release on September 3rd. However, with the new first-degree intentional homicide charge, McDermott is expected to be extradited to Wisconsin to face trial.
