According to court documents, 76-year-old Kenneth Earl Thomas was stopped on August 30, 2025. A Polk County deputy reported clocking his Chevrolet Impala at 72 miles per hour in a 55 zone along County Road 1 near Fosston.
When pulled over, Thomas allegedly told the deputy he did not have a wallet, did not have a driver’s license, and admitted he had not held a valid license for about 12 years. Records show his Minnesota driving privileges were canceled in December 1998 as “inimical to public safety.”
Deputies confirmed through state records that his license was canceled under DAC-IPS status. Thomas was then arrested and transported for booking. His passenger, who had a valid driver’s license, was released with the vehicle.
Court records also show Thomas has a prior conviction for the same offense in Pennington County from 2011. If convicted again, he faces up to 364 days in jail and a fine of up to $3,000.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office handled the case. Thomas is expected to appear in Polk County District Court on the charge.
