Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) – A Bemidji man, Jared L. Jones, is facing felony charges after allegedly assaulting a police officer at a homeless shelter on November 30th.
Police were called to the People’s Church, a homeless shelter in Bemidji, after receiving a report of a disorderly male. Upon arriving, officers identified Jones, who was reportedly yelling and causing a scene.
The situation was initially handled by allowing Jones to leave the premises, but as officers began to walk away, he reportedly spat on one of them while calling the officer derogatory names. Jones then allegedly shoved the officer and physically resisted arrest.
As a result of the incident, Jones is now charged with felony assault on a peace officer, as well as assault with two or more convictions within three years. He was taken into custody without further incident following the altercation.
Authorities have not released additional details about Jones’ prior convictions. The case is still under investigation, and more updates are expected.
