Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bemidji-area drug case has led to a felony charge against Fabian Dean Rosebear, 33, of Ponemah, according to a criminal complaint filed in Beltrami County District Court.

Rosebear is charged with fifth-degree drug possession. Prosecutors allege he possessed mixtures containing fentanyl and methamphetamine on or about March 2, 2026. The charge is a felony under Minnesota Statute 152.025. A conviction could carry up to five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.

What Happened

According to the complaint, an officer was on patrol near the alley behind People’s Church in Bemidji during the afternoon of March 2. The officer saw a man riding a bicycle with a face covering pulled high on his face. Court records say the rider appeared to turn his face away as the squad car passed.

The officer then stopped the cyclist in the 300 block of 10th Street Northwest. The complaint identifies the cyclist as Fabian Dean Rosebear. Dispatch later confirmed he had multiple active warrants.

After Rosebear was arrested, the complaint says officers searched him and found a small black pouch. Inside the pouch, officers found several foil bindles and a small plastic bag.

What Officers Found

According to the charging document, Rosebear told officers the substances were fentanyl and methamphetamine. The complaint states that the suspected methamphetamine weighed about 0.23 grams. Suspected fentanyl weighed about 0.12 grams.

A field test on the suspected methamphetamine was positive, the complaint says. The seized evidence is expected to be sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for further testing.

Authorities also noted that Rosebear has prior drug-related convictions. The complaint lists earlier controlled substance cases from 2021, 2023, and 2024. Court records also show a DWI conviction from 2022 and an active probation violation warrant tied to a prior drug case.

Court Status

The case was filed in Beltrami County District Court under court file number 04-CR-26-549. The complaint includes an order of detention.

As with all criminal cases, the charge is an accusation. Rosebear is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
