Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bemidji man is now charged in a March 2025 theft case tied to stolen Apple devices, according to court documents.

What court documents allege

Court records say a victim reported an iPad and AirPods stolen from a vehicle. The report says the theft happened in March 2025. The victim later used Apple tracking to help locate the devices.

Investigators followed the location information linked to the missing items. The tracking information led law enforcement to the property, according to the complaint. The devices were recovered, court documents say.

Charges filed in Beltrami County

Douglas Wayne Wind, of Bemidji, is now charged in Beltrami County. The case includes a felony and a gross misdemeanor count. Both counts relate to receiving stolen property, according to the filing.

Court documents say Wind was first served with a pending warrant out of Hennepin County. After that service, the Beltrami County case moved forward. The complaint outlines the recovery of the iPad and AirPods.

How tracking can help in theft cases

Apple’s “Find My” tools can help owners locate missing devices. Those tools can also support theft reports and follow-up steps. Apple explains the feature and options on its support pages.
