Bemidji Man Charged Again in Domestic Violence Case

BEMIDJI, Minn. (trfnews.i234.meAntonio M. Roy of Bemidji is facing another domestic violence charge following a violent incident earlier this week.

According to court documents, at approximately 12:02 p.m. on October 22, Bemidji Police responded to a residence in the city for a report of a domestic assault. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a female victim who reported that Roy had allegedly thrown her to the ground in a hallway, then punched her in the face around 10 times, and kicked her in the face.

Roy was arrested and has now been charged with felony domestic assault. The charge is enhanced to a felony due to two prior domestic assault convictions on his record, according to court filings.

The case remains under investigation by Bemidji Police Department. Roy is being held pending his next court appearance in Beltrami County District Court.

Domestic violence remains a serious issue across Minnesota. Resources for victims, including emergency shelter and counseling, are available through the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.
