Cass County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bemidji man faces two felony charges. The case involves a reported stolen truck. The complaint was filed in Cass County District Court on January 28, 2026.

Richard Edward Beaulieu, 55, is from Bemidji. He is charged with Receiving Stolen Property. He is also charged with Fleeing a Peace Officer in a Motor Vehicle.

What Deputies Allege

The complaint says a deputy saw a silver 1999 Ford F-150 on Blue Granite Lane NW. It was around 8:51 a.m. on February 6, 2026. The truck matched one reported stolen in Hubbard County.

The deputy turned on the lights and sirens. The driver did not stop, the complaint says. Investigators say the truck ran a stop sign at Wakonabo Drive and Blue Granite Lane NW.

The complaint says the driver tried to turn onto Deer Trail Road NW. The truck lost control and went into a ditch.

Knife Mentioned in Report

Investigators say Beaulieu got out and ran into a wooded area. A security officer, listed as “Victim 1,” tried to intervene near the truck.

The complaint says Beaulieu pulled out a pocketknife. He held it near his waist. The security officer backed away, investigators wrote.

Deputies chased Beaulieu on foot and caught up in the woods. The complaint says he resisted arrest. Other officers arrived to help secure him.

Police reported finding a black pocketknife during a pat search. They described it as about seven inches long when open.

Statements, Testing, and Court Status

The complaint says Beaulieu admitted to drinking before driving. It also says he admitted taking the truck. He reportedly said he was “high.” He refused to name the substance, the complaint says.
