Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Cass Lake man faces two gross misdemeanor charges in Beltrami County District Court. Police stopped the vehicle in Bemidji on Feb. 16, 2026.
David George Goggleye Sr., 44, is charged with second-degree DWI involving Schedule I or II drugs. He is also charged with driving after cancellation as being inimical to public safety. The court file number listed is 04-CR-26-442.
Why police stopped the vehicle
The criminal complaint says a Bemidji police officer saw a car with no front license plate. The officer also saw a registration sticker color tied to an expired year. The officer stopped the car near 5:30 p.m., according to the complaint.
The complaint says Goggleye showed signs of recent drug use. It cites glassy eyes and fast speech. It also notes exaggerated, jerky movements.
The complaint identifies a passenger as Adriana Doninique Johnson, 29. It says she also showed similar signs. Two children under 16 were in the backseat, the complaint states. The children are identified by initials in court records.

Tests, arrest, and a warrant
Police conducted field sobriety testing, according to the complaint. It says Goggleye had very small pupils. It also says his pupils showed little reaction to light.
The complaint says he tried a timing test. He said 30 seconds passed after about 21 seconds.
The complaint says Goggleye admitted using methamphetamine within 12 hours. It says he declined more balance tests. He cited a past traumatic brain injury.
Police then arrested him on suspicion of DWI, the complaint states. Investigators later obtained a warrant for a blood or urine sample, according to the filing. The complaint does not list lab results.
Charges and what comes next
Count one alleges his body contained a Schedule I or II controlled substance, or a metabolite. It also alleges a child under 16 was in the vehicle. Prosecutors also cite a prior non-felony DWI conviction within 10 years.
The complaint lists a prior DWI conviction on March 7, 2022. Count two alleges he drove after his license was canceled as inimical to public safety. The complaint says he had notice, or reason to know, of the cancellation.
Both counts are gross misdemeanors, court records show. Charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent.
