Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) – A Bemidji woman is facing multiple gross misdemeanor charges in Beltrami County after police say she drove drunk with four children in her vehicle.
According to a criminal complaint, Promise Rose Weiss, 37, was stopped in Bemidji on August 8, 2025, after Red Lake Tribal Police reported she had struck a parking ramp at the Seven Clans Casino before leaving the area. Bemidji police later located the vehicle, a dark-colored Chevrolet sedan, near Irvine Avenue NW.
Deputies reported that Weiss appeared intoxicated, showing red and watery eyes, slurred speech, and a lethargic demeanor. A strong odor of alcohol came from the car. Inside, officers found four young children, none of whom were properly restrained in child safety seats.
When asked how much she had consumed, Weiss reportedly replied, “a lot.” She refused field sobriety tests but provided a preliminary breath test that registered 0.21 BAC, nearly three times the legal limit. Weiss admitted to drinking vodka earlier in the evening.
At the Beltrami County Jail, she consented to a DataMaster breath test, which confirmed her BAC at 0.21. Records show Weiss has two prior impaired driving convictions within the past ten years, which elevated the current DWI charge to second-degree DWI.
Weiss is now charged with:
-
Second-degree DWI (gross misdemeanor)
-
Four counts of child endangerment (gross misdemeanors)
-
Driving after revocation (misdemeanor)
Each gross misdemeanor charge carries a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail and a $3,000 fine, while the driving after revocation charge carries up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Court records also show Weiss has past convictions for DWI and domestic assault and pending cases involving driving violations.
The case is under review in Beltrami County District Court.
