On March 30, 2025, Shena Martin, a resident of Beltrami County, was taken into custody by local law enforcement on charges of third-degree driving while impaired (DWI) and refusal to submit to a chemical test. According to the Beltrami County Jail records, Martin, who stands at 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, was booked without bail.

Minnesota law classifies third-degree DWI as a gross misdemeanor, which can result from having one aggravating factor, such as a prior DWI conviction or a blood alcohol concentration of 0.16 or higher at the time of arrest. Refusing to submit to a chemical test when suspected of impaired driving is a separate offense under Minnesota Statute 169A.26.1(b), carrying its own set of penalties.

Martin is currently held at the Beltrami County Jail, awaiting her court date in the District Court. The jail records indicate that no bail amount has been set at this time.

Driving while impaired poses significant risks to public safety, and Minnesota law enforcement continues to enforce strict measures to deter such behavior. Residents are reminded of the severe consequences associated with DWI offenses, including potential jail time, fines, and loss of driving privileges.
