Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Bemidji man is facing felony and gross misdemeanor charges after deputies say he was found slumped over in a running vehicle outside the Beltrami County Adult Correction Center with fentanyl and drug paraphernalia nearby.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Beltrami County District Court, 33-year-old Logan Phillip Gurzi was discovered in the driver’s seat of the vehicle on July 24, 2025, with a piece of burnt tinfoil in plain view — an item commonly used to consume narcotics.
Deputies say Gurzi showed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests and was arrested for DWI. A subsequent search uncovered multiple pieces of burnt tinfoil, a clear baggie containing white powder suspected to be fentanyl, and a scale. The substance reportedly weighed about 3.5 grams and tested positive for fentanyl.
A search warrant for Gurzi’s urine sample was executed, and the results are pending with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
Court records indicate Gurzi has prior convictions for drug possession, DWI, theft, and domestic assault by strangulation. If convicted in this case, he faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
