Beltrami County ( trfnews.i234.me ) — Warroad Man Facing Drug and DWI Charges

A Warroad man is facing multiple charges in Beltrami County after a late-night traffic stop in Bemidji. According to a criminal complaint filed in Beltrami County District Court, Timothy James Bahr, 37, has been charged with felony fifth-degree drug possession and gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI test refusal.

Authorities say the incident happened around 2 a.m. on September 20, 2025, when a Beltrami County deputy on patrol noticed a dark-colored Ford Fusion with a broken brake light near the intersection of 3rd Street Northwest and America Avenue Northwest in Bemidji.

After a traffic stop, the deputy identified the driver as Bahr. The complaint states Bahr appeared lethargic, had red, glassy eyes, and slurred speech. Based on his condition, the deputy suspected impairment and conducted field sobriety tests, which Bahr reportedly failed.

During the investigation, a small plastic bag containing about 0.4 grams of methamphetamine was found inside the vehicle. The substance later tested positive for methamphetamine. Bahr allegedly admitted to using several controlled substances before driving.

Officers obtained a judicial warrant for a chemical test of Bahr’s blood or urine. However, Bahr allegedly refused to comply even after being informed that refusal would result in a criminal charge. He was then booked into the Beltrami County Jail.

Criminal History and Charges

Bahr’s record includes prior convictions in Minnesota for criminal sexual conduct, introducing contraband, and domestic assault. The current charges include:

  • Count I: Fifth-Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance — Felony (up to five years in prison or a $10,000 fine).
  • Count II: Third-Degree DWI – Refusal to Submit to Chemical Test — Gross Misdemeanor (up to 364 days in jail or a $3,000 fine).

The case remains under review in Beltrami County District Court. No future court dates were listed at the time of this report.
