What the Complaint Says

According to court records, deputies were sent to Lot 603 at Woodland Mobile Home Park at about 11:05 p.m. The call reported that Smith had arrived without notice and was scaring children inside the home.

The homeowner told authorities she had dated Smith about five or six years ago. She said he kept calling her, even after she told him to stop. The complaint states Smith called about 10 times that day from two numbers. She said she blocked one number, but he kept calling from another.

She told him not to come over. She also told him she no longer lived there. The complaint says she warned the young people at the home to lock the doors and report it if he showed up.

Authorities say Smith later arrived at the residence anyway. A juvenile told him to leave. The complaint says he did not leave when told. It states the juvenile then forced him out, locked the door, and woke the homeowner.

Knife Allegation

Deputies found Smith outside the home, according to the complaint. Because of what the report called prior unpredictable behavior, deputies detained him and placed him in a squad car.

A witness identified as K.K. told deputies that Smith had a large kitchen knife and tried to punch him. K.K. said he had been contacted because the homeowner feared Smith being at the property. He said he approached Smith and told him he was not welcome there.

The complaint alleges Smith swung at K.K. and reached for the knife. After hearing that Smith might be armed, deputies removed him from the vehicle and handcuffed him. The complaint says a large kitchen knife was later found in a nearby snowbank.

Case Status

Authorities arrested Smith and booked him into the Beltrami County Jail. The charges remain allegations, and the case is pending in court.
