BELTRAMI COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Cole Allen Dulas, 28, of Bemidji, is facing a gross misdemeanor DWI charge after allegedly being caught driving under the influence of alcohol during the early morning hours of June 15, 2025.
According to the criminal complaint, Beltrami County Deputy Lavonte Hardie observed Dulas’s Chevrolet truck stopped at a red light at 5th Street NW and Bemidji Avenue N without functioning license plate lights or a third brake light. After initiating a traffic stop, Deputy Hardie approached the vehicle and immediately noticed a strong smell of alcohol and an open container of Bemidji Brewing beer in the center console.
Dulas reportedly admitted to drinking, and Deputy Hardie observed that he had red, watery eyes and a lethargic demeanor. Field sobriety tests were administered, which Dulas failed. A preliminary breath test (PBT) showed a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .14, and a later test at the Beltrami County Jail confirmed a BAC of .12, above the legal limit of .08.
Records indicate Dulas has a prior conviction for Gross Misdemeanor 3rd Degree DWI (Case No. 52-CR-18-240), which constitutes an aggravating factor in this case.
Dulas is now formally charged with:
-
Traffic – DWI – Operate Motor Vehicle with Alcohol Concentration 0.08 Within 2 Hours (Gross Misdemeanor)
– Maximum Penalty: 364 days in jail and/or a $3,000 fine.
