Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) – On this Tuesday morning, we’re heading east into the sunrise toward Bemidji, Minnesota, where a powerful weekend storm brought winds estimated at 105 miles per hour, knocking down thousands of trees in and around this town of about 16,000 people.
Today, we’re taking a drive through Pine Tree Country to give you a firsthand look at the aftermath and ongoing storm cleanup efforts across Bemidji. The damage is extensive, but the community is moving quickly to restore order.
The good news? The weather is cooperating. Forecasters are calling for sunny skies with a high near 76° today, which should help crews make some progress. A bit of early morning fog still lingers along the roads as cleanup continues.
Stay tuned for our full visual tour around town later today and see how residents are rebounding from one of the most powerful wind events to hit the area in recent memory.
