Bemidji, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bemidji man with a recent history of domestic violence is back in custody after allegedly attacking the same woman he was previously convicted of assaulting, just two days after being released from jail.

According to court records, Derek Thomas Fairbanks-Roy had been released on May 29th after pleading guilty to an earlier assault. But on May 31st, officers were dispatched to a Bemidji residence where the female victim reported that Fairbanks-Roy allegedly backhanded her and threw her to the ground during a confrontation.

Police later located him at a relative’s house and arrested him again.

He’s now facing three new felony charges:

  1. Stalking,

  2. Violation of a No Contact Order, and

  3. Domestic Assault.

This comes on top of prior charges related to a robbery and assault incident at Bemidji City Park earlier this year.

Did you know? With case facts:

  • Fairbanks-Roy had just been released from jail on May 29.

  • He assaulted the same woman two days later.

  • He violated a no-contact order already in place.

  • He faces multiple felony charges, including stalking and domestic assault.
