Beltrami County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – A Redby man is facing serious drug trafficking and driving charges following a traffic stop in Bemidji earlier this month. Court documents identify the suspect as Benjamin Roy Cloud Jr.

On the evening of September 13th, an officer conducted a traffic stop after noticing a vehicle with a burned-out headlight. During the stop, the driver was identified as Cloud, who already had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Authorities report that Cloud admitted to using methamphetamine, fentanyl, and marijuana earlier that same morning. He allegedly told the officer he smokes the substances every day in an attempt to quit, admitting he had consumed them before being pulled over.

During the search, officers seized approximately $1,316 in cash along with drug packages believed to be prepared for sale. Investigators say this evidence supports the trafficking charge.

Cloud is now formally charged with felony third-degree sale of drugs as well as gross misdemeanor DWI. Both charges carry significant penalties if he is convicted, including potential prison time and fines.

The case adds to growing concerns about drug distribution in rural Minnesota communities. Law enforcement agencies continue to encourage the public to report suspicious activity. For more information on Minnesota drug laws, visit the Minnesota Statutes on Controlled Substances.
