Becker, Sherburne County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Minnesota suicide prevention nonprofit says it lost more than $200,000. Prosecutors now charge the group’s former treasurer, court records show.

Ryan Gary Obermoller, 46, faces two felony theft counts in Sherburne County District Court. The charges were filed on Feb. 17, 2026. Obermoller served as executive director and treasurer for Dylan’s Hope Foundation, according to a criminal complaint.

The investigation started in 2025

The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation began in 2025. Investigators reviewed bank records and payments, the complaint says. They allege $219,173.39 was stolen from 2018 through August 2025.

Investigators traced several payments to Obermoller, the complaint says. One check was for about $22,000, according to the filing. Authorities say Obermoller later admitted taking some of the money.

How much money is still missing

Court records say some money was repaid after questions were raised. Even so, the complaint lists a remaining loss. Prosecutors estimate at least $188,669.35 is still owed to the foundation.

Dylan’s Hope Foundation provides suicide prevention education and outreach, the complaint says. The group also shares resources for people seeking help. Readers can learn more at the foundation’s website.

What happens next in court

Felony theft penalties can depend on the dollar amount and the facts. Minnesota theft law is outlined in Minnesota Statute 609.52. Court schedules and filings are handled by the Sherburne County District Court.

Public case records are available through Minnesota Court Records Online (MCRO). Court records can change as a case moves forward.

Leadership listing changed

Obermoller is no longer listed on the foundation’s leadership page, reports say. The case remains active in district court. All charges are allegations.

Obermoller is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
