Becker County (trfnews.i234.me)— On March 25, 2025, Caitlin Sera Anderson, 35, of New York Mills, was involved in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 10 in Detroit Lakes. Responding to the scene around 8:43 p.m., a state trooper found Anderson being prepared for transport to Essentia St. Mary’s emergency room. The occupants of the second vehicle were unharmed and recounted that Anderson’s vehicle veered into their lane, causing the collision.

At the hospital, medical staff noted Anderson’s uncooperative behavior, including removing her cervical collar. The attending nurse suspected impairment. The trooper observed a strong odor of alcohol, bloodshot eyes, and slurred speech during their interaction. Anderson admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving.

While the trooper sought assistance, Anderson left the emergency room, removing her IVs. She was found outside the hospital, declining further medical treatment. Field sobriety tests indicated impairment, and a preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol concentration of .24%, three times the legal limit. Anderson was arrested and transported to Becker County Jail, where a subsequent test confirmed a BAC of .23%.

Charged with two felony counts of first-degree DWI, Anderson appeared before District Court Judge Gretchen Thilmony on March 27. Bail was set with varying conditions, including abstaining from alcohol and compliance with random testing. Her next court appearance is scheduled for April 7.
