Becker County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Detroit Lakes man has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for criminal sexual conduct involving two minor victims.

Eneyl Lee Amequita Davila, 23, was sentenced on two felony charges: second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor under 14, and third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. As part of a plea deal, prosecutors dismissed two felony counts related to possessing child sexual abuse material.

According to court documents, the case began on April 19, 2024, when Detroit Lakes police were alerted to a possible sexual assault involving two boys. Investigators learned the incident occurred on April 13 at a residence on Summit Avenue.

The victims told police they were overpowered during the attack. However, one boy was able to knee Amequita Davila in the head, allowing both victims to escape the house. Police located and arrested him the following morning.

A search warrant was later issued for two cellphones seized at the time of his arrest. Investigators discovered secret Telegram chats labeled “boy group,” which included video evidence of underage sexual content.

On June 25, 2024, Judge Michelle Lawson sentenced Amequita Davila on both counts. For second-degree criminal sexual conduct, he received a 36-month prison term at St. Cloud, stayed for 15 years, along with 355 days in the Becker County Jail, which was credited as time served. For third-degree criminal sexual conduct, he received a 48-month prison term, also stayed for 15 years, with the same jail credit applied.

In addition, he was placed on 15 years of supervised probation under strict conditions. These include no contact with minors or the victims’ families, no access to firearms, alcohol, or drugs, and compliance with Minnesota’s predatory offender registration requirements. He was also fined a total of $710 in fines and fees.
