Becker County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – A Mahnomen man is now facing a felony charge after a stabbing incident in Ponford earlier this month. Court records show that William John Jones has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony assault with a dangerous weapon following the August 7 attack.

According to the criminal complaint, White Earth police officers were dispatched to Ponford on a report of a stabbing. A male victim told officers that Jones stabbed him in the face, back, and shoulder area. Officers noted that the man had a long, thin cut across his face and another injury on his back. The wounds were sustained while he attempted to flee from Jones.

A second victim, a woman, also suffered a hand injury while attempting to take the knife away from Jones. The suspect left the scene after the attack but was later located and arrested. Authorities confirmed that Jones is now formally charged with felony assault with a dangerous weapon.

The case remains active in Becker County Court. More details regarding upcoming hearings and potential sentencing will be determined as the case progresses. Assault with a dangerous weapon is a serious felony under Minnesota law and can carry lengthy prison time if convicted.

This incident adds to growing concerns about violent crime in small northern Minnesota communities. Authorities encourage residents to report suspicious activity promptly to help prevent further violence.
