Court papers say a Brainerd man faces new DWI charges after a stop near Baxter.

Devron Lee Blood, 36, is charged with gross misdemeanor controlled-substance DWI in Crow Wing County District Court.

He also faces a revocation charge tied to an ignition interlock.

A third count alleges he failed to show proof of insurance.

The case is filed as Court File 18-CR-26-727.

According to the complaint, a deputy received a Flock Safety alert before dawn on Feb. 23, 2026.

The alert flagged a vehicle tied to a revoked Minnesota driving status.

The deputy later saw a gold Cadillac Eldorado on Highway 371.

The complaint says the deputy recognized Blood as the driver.

Court papers say the Cadillac weaved and crossed the fog line.

The deputy stopped the vehicle around 4:41 a.m. near Highland Scenic Road.

Signs of impairment

The deputy reported that Blood moved erratically in the driver’s seat.

The complaint says his speech was fast and hard to follow.

The deputy also reported sweating and a pale look.

Court papers say a passenger held a glass pipe.

The deputy said Blood mentioned “any bullshit” in a remark.

The deputy wrote he took it as drug talk.

During checks, the deputy confirmed Blood’s license was revoked, the complaint says.

Court papers also say Blood was required to use an ignition interlock.

Blood could not show proof of insurance, according to the complaint.

The deputy asked about recent drug use, court papers say.

Blood reported methamphetamine use two to three days earlier.

He also said meth might still be in his system.

Field tests and arrest

The complaint says Blood became angry and yelled.

He first said he could not do tests when sober.

He later agreed, but did not follow directions, the deputy wrote.

The deputy used a Modified Romberg test, according to the complaint.

The deputy reported swaying, rigid muscles, and fluttering eyelids.

Court papers also cite teeth grinding during the test.

The deputy arrested Blood for DWI, the complaint says.

He was taken to Essentia Health in Brainerd for a blood or urine test.

The test was ordered under a search warrant, according to the complaint.

Results were pending in the court filing.
