Baudette Woman Charged for Bold Dirt Bike Theft

Thief River Falls, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – On May 18 at 10:42 a.m., the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft outside 15300 Shawn St. Destinee Nicole Osborn, 26, of Baudette, has been charged with gross misdemeanor theft following the incident. The complaint was officially filed on July 10.

According to the complaint, a man reported that an SSR 125 dirt bike, owned by another man who had previously stayed at the property, had been stolen six days earlier. The thief had cut a chain securing the dirt bike in the front yard.

A third man, who was assisting with property cleanup after a fire, informed deputies that a woman in a yellow Mazda had inquired about purchasing the dirt bike before May 12. He told her it was not for sale.

A neighbor witnessed the theft and recorded a video of the incident on May 12. The footage showed a yellow car parked near the home, with a person placing the dirt bike in the trunk and then driving away with it hanging out of the trunk.

The Roseau County Sheriff’s Office later located the suspect vehicle with Osborn inside. Osborn allegedly told deputies that a St. Hilaire woman had instructed her to take the dirt bike and provided her with a tool for the job. Osborn claimed she delivered the bike to this woman’s home.

When deputies visited the St. Hilaire woman, she appeared confused and denied any involvement in the theft. She identified Osborn as the likely suspect and admitted they were not on good terms following a recent altercation, leading her to block Osborn on her phone. Deputies confirmed the block.

No dirt bikes were found during searches of properties associated with both women. The stolen dirt bike is valued at $850.
