Baudette, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) Allen Lee Moorhead, 56, of Baudette, is charged with felony theft of a motor vehicle.
The charge follows an investigation by the Lake of the Woods County Sheriff’s Office.
What investigators say happened
Court papers say a 2006 blue Honda Civic was taken on October 22, 2025.
The car was parked on the 400 block of Main Avenue South in Baudette.
The owner said the ignition was faulty, so the key was left inside.
The owner reported the car missing around 7:00 a.m., the complaint says.

Evidence cited in the complaint
Deputies found shoes and a baseball cap near the home’s steps, the complaint says.
The homeowner said the items were not theirs.
A potted plant near the door was also knocked over.
The Honda Civic was found about two blocks away, abandoned on 5th Street Southwest.
Investigators reported the driver’s window was shattered.
They also reported a vodka bottle on the floor.
Court papers say surveillance video from Baudette’s municipal bar, The Muni, showed Moorhead wearing a similar cap.
Interview and response
Investigators interviewed Moorhead at his apartment, according to the complaint.
He reportedly said he was at the bar the night before.
He also said he was very intoxicated.
The complaint says he admitted the shoes and cap were his.
When asked about taking the car, he said he did not remember.
What happens next
Moorhead was charged by summons in Lake of the Woods County District Court.
The complaint was filed February 6, 2026.
A court appearance is expected in Baudette.
Minnesota law lists vehicle theft as taking or driving without consent.
That language appears in Minn. Stat. § 609.52.
Records requests can be made through the sheriff’s office records unit.
Moorhead is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
